Note: This listing is based on someone’s memory of seeing a painting of the author. If anyone also has memories of such a thing, or even better, evidence of it, please do get in touch. Details according to most recent description. Size: Approximately 3 or 4 feet square. Materials: Possibly hardboard or canvas. Rendered in thinned oil paint (similar to Mike’s Brother) with a smudge across one of Joyce’s bespectacled eyes. Location and time viewed: Possibly at a feature exhibition, Walker Art Gallery. Portrait was seen at some point between 1967 & 69.

There are a number of Burroughs works that in attempts to archive them, have left researchers stumped. There are numerous titles, one or another may or may not be the same paintings as are presented on the website main page. Somehow this historical confusion seems to bear comparison with the nature of Burroughs’ own cut-up text work. It’s not out of the question Walsh deliberately created this confusion apropos of same.
